The Chamberlain offers breathtaking rooftop views, sumptuous accommodations and a truly exclusive dining experience to trend-setting travelers looking for traditional luxury in an updated atmosphere.

This posh off-the- strip hotel hits a perfect balance between rock star playfulness and upscale rejuvenation. Tucked away on a residential street, steps from West Hollywood’s most famous bars and restaurants, the Chamberlain is a luxe choice for visitors who want an opulent space to recover from a night of cocktails and clubbing. Beyond the eccentrically chic lobby (think lacquered furniture, vintage busts and orchids), the converted apartment building boasts suites and only suites—you won’t find twin beds here. Rooms are decked out with deluxe accoutrements like log fireplaces, private balconies and high-end Italian linens; adjoining bathrooms sport high pressure showerheads and artful marble countertops. Enjoy a dip in the rooftop pool and take in sweeping views of L.A., then head down to dinner in Bistro, the hotel’s Parisian-inspired restaurant. Bistro serves up knockout takes on traditional American and European dishes, like grilled Scottish salmon in ratatouille and cavatelli with a delicate cream sauce, though the cafe’s real draw is its exclusive atmosphere—the small restaurant is for guests only, imbuing even the most casual brunch with the air of an intimate tet-a-tet.

Location: West Hollywood may be L.A.’s most famous gay neighborhood, but its many clubs and bars are open to partiers of all orientations. You’ll also find shopping and dining within walking distance, and Hollywood’s museums, tourist attractions and more are a short drive away. The Sunset Strip is fun, but it can get tourist-y; take time to get to know the rest of the neighborhood for an authentic Angelino experience.

Nearby:

Abbey: This slightly Goth gay clubs boasts four bars, supremely strong drinks and a solid selection of dance music that’s landed it on Best Of lists worldwide.

The Comedy Store: With three stages and stand-up every night of the week, you’re guaranteed at least a few laughs at L.A.’s most famous comedy club.

Saddle Ranch Chop House: The Sunset Strip steakhouse boasts a mechanical bull, fire pits for DIY s’mores and a surprisingly good cut of meat. It can get tourist-heavy, but the level of cheese remains charming late into the night.

The Roxy: This landmark concert hall’s stage may be small, but its marquee sports big names: programming is overseen by the same bookers who handle Coachella, so you know you’re in for quality acts.

The Church Key: A seemingly endless stream of dim sum-inspired carts glide through this spacious mess hall, carrying international treats like edamame hummus and crispy pork belly. At brunch, invest in bottomless mimosas, or round out your meal with a delightfully boozy alcohol-infused ice pop.

Good for: While the Chamberlain’s suite setups are certainly spacious enough for families, the ritzy accommodations and abundance of nearby 21+ entertainment make this hotel a particularly solid choice for friends, bachelor(ette) parties, and couples looking for a lavish weekend getaway.

Amenities: Pool, room service, free wifi, minibar, restaurant, bar, gym, laundry service, concierge

Time Out tip: If you’re traveling for business, invest in the hotel’s $20/night “amenity fee.” It may seem steep when so many accoutrements come gratis, but you’ll have full access to the business center, enhanced online streaming and download speeds, unlimited coffee and tea, and a much-needed “welcome beverage” for when it’s time to put your laptop away.
