October is National Pizza Month—because a single day is not enough for this doughy, cheesy national treasure—and to celebrate, DoorDash just released its 2026 Top Pizza Spots list. The list highlights the country's top independent pizzerias that are resonating with pizza delivery connoisseurs. To make the cut, these spots have fewer than 10 locations, at least 1,000 reviews and stellar ratings consistently logged from September 2025 through September 2026.
Out of thousands of contenders nationwide, eight California pizzerias earned a spot on the list. But while the Los Angeles pizza scene is definitely hot, not a single L.A. pizzeria made the cut this year. Instead, the Bay Area and Central California swept the board, a strong indicator that Northern California knows a thing or two about top-tier delivery.

San Francisco is home to three of the listmakers: Golden Boy Pizza, famous for its legendary focaccia slices; Little Star Pizza, a paradise for deep-dish aficionados and Outta Sight, delivering classic, thin-crust perfection.
Just across the bay, Oakland’s Zachary's Chicago Pizza almost made the list. Deep-dish pie does indeed thrive on the West Coast. Down in Campbell, both Blue Line Pizza and Luigi's Pizza & Pasta are capturing locals' hearts (and stomachs), while San Jose’s A Slice of New York Pizza is keeping the East Coast vibe alive and well in Silicon Valley. Rounding out the Golden State’s champions is Mike's Pizza Of Sonora.
“What I love about pizza is how local it is. Every neighborhood has a spot people are fiercely loyal to,” said Ruth Isenstadt, Head of U.S. Restaurants at DoorDash. “This list celebrates the restaurants that earn that loyalty order after order, and the people behind them who keep finding ways to make a familiar favorite their own."
DoorDash also revealed a few interesting pizza stats. Despite endless debate, pineapple is actually a thing, racking up more orders than toppings like olives or bacon. Pepperoni remains the undisputed champ, but white pizza and caramelized onions are rapidly climbing the charts. Meanwhile, orders for authentic New York-style pies are skyrocketing nationwide.
Whatever style you prefer, California's independent pizzerias are clearly delivering the goods and DoorDashers are taking note.
