Time Out says

The Australian Chamber Orchestra gets down and dirty to play anything from Bach to Nine Inch Nails for one night only at the Factory Theatre

It’s been two years since the Australian Chamber Orchestra performed one of their ACO Underground shows, and we’re chomping at the bit for their new one, which has been announced for the Factory Theatre on Monday March 2.

If you’re a neophyte when it comes to ACO Underground, then let us enlighten you. Frontwoman and ACO principal violinist Satu Vänskä leads a line-up of amazing musicians from different genres, joining forces to play repertoire that veers from classical to avant-garde to rock to film scores and beyond.

Accompanying her this time around will be ACO artistic director Richard Tognetti, classical guitar legend Slava Grigoryan, and the Violent Femmes’ bassist Brian Ritchie, playing music by Nick Drake to Nine Inch Nails, Bach to Bryce Dessner, Arvo Pärt and beyond, alongside dark and hypnotic new compositions by Tognetti.

The atmosphere at ACO Underground is less stuffy concert hall and more grungy rock salon – as they describe it, it’s “electrifying, unexpected, and a little bit sweaty”. This is your chance to get up close with some of the best musicians in the world, playing music that pushes boundaries, for a ticket price of just $45 (concessions $39). Tickets are on sale now.
