Time Out says

Mark Victorian NAIDOC Week by tuning into this livestreamed concert featuring First Nations artists

Like many events during 2020, NAIDOC Week has been postponed with the annual July celebration of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people being officially moved to November.

However, the Victorian NAIDOC team, as well as Arts Centre Melbourne, still wanted some way to mark the event, in spite of current circumstances. Hence, the Always Was, Always Will Be concert was born.

Always Was, Always Will Be (which notably is also the theme for NAIDOC Week 2020) is a one-night-only livestreamed concert featuring Australia’s best First Nations artists. Kicking off at 6.30pm on Saturday, July 11, the event will star musicians like Uncle Archie Roach, Uncle Kutcha Edwards, Alice Skye, Troy Cassar-Daley and Djirri Djirri.

In addition to musical artists, Always Was, Always Will Be will be hosted by comedians Shiralee Hood and Dion Williams who will be coming to audiences live from Hamer Hall. Messages from Elders like N’arweet Dr Carolyn Briggs, Aunty Alice Kolasa, Aunty Pam Pederson and Uncle Shane Clarke will also feature on the night.

Tune into Always Was, Always Will Be via the Arts Centre Melbourne website from 6.30pm on Saturday, July 11.
