Christmas carolers might not be able to proceed as normal this year, but Victorian Opera has come up with a way to deliver festive tunes to the masses. The opera is teaming up with Orchestra Victoria, Live Nation and Black Hole Theatre to present And so this is Christmas: a festive live-streamed concert of classic Christmas songs.
The live, online Christmas concert runs for just under an hour and features festive favourites like 'Silent Night' and 'O Come All Ye Faithful', as well as Spanish carol 'La Peregrinación' (The Pilgrimage) and Stephen Schwartz and Steve Young’s 'The Chanukah Song' (We are Lights).
In addition to songs, And so this is Christmas will feature poetry, narration and a special shadow puppet show.
And so this is Christmas is streaming live from St Kilda's Palais Theatre at 5pm on Saturday, December 19. Like the big day itself, it's only happening once and will not be available on demand after streaming – so make sure to set yourself a reminder. Tickets are $30 and are available now.
