Bang Bang’s $12 lunches offer bang for your buck

Bang Bang's French Indochine-inspired menu is packed with Thai-Vietnamese crowd pleasers, and during the working week everything on the lunch menu is just $12. Choose from options like classic pad thai or tom yum curry with jackfruit and shiitake mushroom, or spice it up with black peppered barramundi wings, tuna tartare with crispy shallots and prawn crackers, or charred assam lamb ribs with heady tamarind, lime and chilli.

The venue itself is a laidback oasis that is the perfect escape from the daily grind, with tropical wallpaper and hanging exotic greenery flowing from gorgeously styled indoor spaces to the relaxed outdoor courtyard, which sits adjacent to the local park. Bang Bang has transformed a former derelict rifle club and firing range (notice the word play in the restaurant’s name?) into a social hotspot for South East locals with a menu that seamlessly blends old favourites with exciting new flavour combinations. There's also an inventive cocktail list for those days you feel like celebrating, try their Lavender Park, a delicious mix of Beefeater gin, aloe vera, lavender, cucumber, and lime.

Head chef Ben Hildred has been settling in since May 2019, and with his previous experience at Mya Tiger and Coda, has a strong handle on Bang Bang’s particular brand of Asian fusion.

Don't be put off by Bang Bang's location – these $12 lunches could be all yours if you travel by train on the Sandringham line, hop off at a 67 tram's Elsternwick Station stop, or take advantage of the abundant freeparking in the area.

Bang Bang’s lunch special is on offer from Monday to Friday from noon-3pm. Reservations are not required but are recommended.
