Time Out says

Revisit some of Australia's best musicals while supporting out-of-work local performers

Sadly, Australians aren’t going to be seeing any new, live musicals for some time yet. We can, however, revisit some of our favourite musicals from the past decade. Arts Centre Melbourne hosting a one-night-only livestream featuring performances from some of the country's biggest musical hits.

Keeping the Curtain Up is bringing together past performances from some of Australia's favourite musicals on Saturday, July 18. Hosted by Shane Jacobson, Keeping the Curtain Up will feature performances from our top theatrical talents like Jemma Rix, Eddie Perfect, Esther Hannaford, Genevieve Lemon, Kate Ceberano and Paul Capsis during their time in musicals like Les Misérables, Mary Poppins, Billy Elliott, My Fair Lady, The Rocky Horror Show and The Phantom of the Opera.

Over the course of the evening Jacobson will also chat with special guests like Alinta Chidzey (Chicago, West Side Story), Lucy Durack (Wicked, Shrek the Musical, Legally Blonde: the Musical) and Lisa McCune (The Sound of Music, Cabaret).

While Keeping the Curtain Up is free to watch, viewers are encouraged to make a donation to the Actors Benevolent Fund of NSW. The fund supports all workers across the industry (including actors, singers, creatives and technicians) and money raised from the event will be distributed to workers in need across Australia, not just in NSW.

Keeping the Curtain Up is streaming at 7pm on Saturday, July 18 via the Arts Centre Melbourne website.
