Time Out says

This organised dog walk also lets you get up close and cuddly with guide dogs

All dogs are good, but guide dogs especially so. On Saturday, August 17 you can show your appreciation for the hardworking dogs (and get a little exercise) at GoWalk a Guide Dog – a public dog walk where you can also meet trained guide dogs.

Dog owners are encouraged to bring their own pups for a stroll with likeminded people, but even if you are woefully pooch-free you can come and pat a guide dog for a small donation (it goes towards Guide Dogs Australia). There will also be a coffee cart (very important), music and giveaways.

The event is partly hoping to raise awareness of Pawgust – Guide Dog Australia’s campaign to get people walking their dogs (or themselves) for 30 minutes during August. To help you in that aim, GoWalk a Guide Dog will also have sneakers available for sale at retail prices, plus dog accessories (like leashes, toys and treats) available with a donation.

GoWalk a Guide Dog is on from 10am to 2pm at Alexandra Gardens on Saturday, August 17. Entry is free.
