Those tiny little legs are going to pound the pavement this month

Sausage dogs may not have the aerodynamic build of greyhounds but damn it, they'll scuttle to the finish line if they have to. And they'll do it in an adorable costume to boot. Thankfully the annual running of the wieners returns to Hophaus Southgate for Oktoberfest on Saturday September 23 from 11am to 1pm as part of a five-week Oktoberfest festival program that includes bier feasts, trivia nights, and more. 

The Teckelrennen Annual Dachshund Race will see Hophaus team up again with online retailer My Dachshund Online and raise money for Dachshund Rescue Australia. In the last two years, more that 150 tiny sausage dogs have taken part in the competition and this year more dogs will pound the pavement with their tiny legs for the race, which will take place over 12 heats along a 15-metre race track. Don't forget costumes, the Best Dressed Dachshund parade is hilarious.
