Time Out New York’s No. 8 best pizza restaurant in the city—famed for its Bee Sting pie made with tomato, mozzarella, soppressata, basil, chili and honey—is slated to open its first permanent Florida location in Miami Beach next summer.

Helmed by Brandon Hoy and two-Michelin-starred chef Carlo Mirarchi, Roberta’s was born in East Williamsburg in 2008 and quickly became a citywide staple and, eventually, an international brand. Today, the Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded pizzeria boasts seven outposts including three in New York, a handful across the U.S. and even a far-flung restaurant in Singapore.

The latest Roberta’s will open inside the new luxury Miami Beach condominium 72 Park, which is scheduled for completion in summer 2024. Bringing a bit of Brooklyn charm to the calmer, more pedestrian-friendly neighborhood of North Beach, Roberta’s Miami will wrap around the building’s northwest corner, occupying 3,000 square feet of prime, ground-floor retail space.

Though it’s being celebrated as the restaurant brand’s first Florida location (hinting at additional Sunshine State outposts to come), this isn’t the first time Roberta’s has made landfall in Miami. Back in 2017, the team tested out the waters in Miami with a sought-after pop-up in the Design District. The six-month winter fling kicked off in October, ran through Art Basel and sadly wrapped in March of 2018, leaving us yearning for more.

“The energy and diversity of Miami’s food scene resonates deeply with our commitment to providing fun and memorable dining experiences for our guests,” Mirarchi said in the official release. “With its rich cultural tapestry, Miami provides the perfect canvas and 72 Park the perfect home for Roberta’s first step into the Florida market.”

In addition to its beloved wood-fired pies and house-made charcuterie, the Roberta’s team plans to introduce some of its popular community programming to the Miami locale—though we can only assume with a more luxe bent, given the building’s high-end positioning. (The original Brooklyn spot has been likened to a “gastro-commune,” complete with picnic tables, a tiki bar and its own on-site radio station.)

“We couldn’t be happier that Roberta’s has chosen to open at 72 Park, bringing a taste of NYC and an award-winning dining experience,” said Jim Hedden, chief development officer of Lefferts, the building’s developer. “Roberta’s is the perfect addition to the lifestyle and amenities planned for our luxury condominium.”

Miami continues to earn its stripes as one of the country’s emerging cities for amazing ’za. Last month, three Miami restaurants made the 50 Top Pizza USA 2023, including one in the top 10. And in February, one study declared Miami among the top 10 pizza cities in the U.S. It shouldn’t really come as a surprise, given the fact that Miami has essentially become NYC's Southeastern sixth borough.
