"Breaking Ground: The Whitney's Founding Collection"

Drawn from approximately 1,000 objects in the Whitney's founding collection, this historic exhibit features works gathered by heiress and sculptor Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney before the museum's opening in 1931. Iconic paintings come from such respected artists as Edward Hopper and Georgia O'Keeffe.
