NYPL Summer Reading Kickoff

The first 400 kids to arrive at the NYPL’s summer reading kickoff at Seward Park Library will receive a free, signed copy of a book from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, then have a chance to meet author Jeff Kinney himself (11:30am). At 12:30pm, don’t miss artist Michael Albert’s workshop on his trademark collage technique that employs cereal boxes, aptly called “Cerealism.” If your family is more interested in hawks, owls and falcons than in making art, stop by the Birds of Prey presentation instead (12:30pm). Later, kids can settle down to hear storyteller Robin Bady tell tales from China, Korea, Japan and Vietnam (2pm). Free. All ages.
