Art Workshop: Celebrate Flushing Town Hall's 150th Birthday

Originally built to welcome Union soldiers returning from the Civil War, Flushing Town Hall celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. At its commemorative family workshop, little history buffs will learn about the trappings of ballroom gatherings, from the language of fans to the dance cards that dangled from guests' wrists. Following the discussion, kids will make their own fans and dance cards and learn to communicate with them, as 1860s dance music plays in the background. All ages.
