No autumn would be complete without the Amazing Maize Maze at the Queens County Farm Museum! The American Maze Company builds a labyrinth every year that that stretches over several acres, with the length of the course often stretching two miles! Previous years’ themes have included a violin, a riverboat, a train, a farmscape and the largest living sundial. Be sure to check americanmaze.com for the full list of Amazing Maize Maze locations in nearby counties. Con-Ed will sponsor Maze by Moonlight on Oct 13 and 20 beginning at 4:30pm Ages 3 and up.

The Maize Maze is an annual addition to the Queens Farm each fall.  After paying your fee, you can see the designs of the various mazes of the past.  This year's edition has a Triple Crown theme.  The design is shaped like a jockey on a horse and the multiple clues throughout the maze are designed around horse racing.  After getting a brief instruction, grab your colored flag and begin.  Getting lost within its confines, its easy to forget that you are in the borough of Queens, with the exception of hearing the Grand Central Parkway.  80's music was blared through speakers placed within the corn.  A guide in the middle of the maze will provide clues to assist in finishing.  (Hint: look for the orange ribbons).  When you finish, there is a person there to greet you and they announce the flag color of your team.  They also ask for any hints to provide to those still in the maze.  Took about 30 minutes to finish and was great kickoff to fall.
