This Staten Island little league team is giving NYC so much pride

If the Mets and Yanks are giving you grief, it's time to throw your support behind New York's new favorite baseball team: the Mid-Island Little Leaguers from Staten Island

The forgotten borough is gaining some much-needed time in the spotlight thanks to these budding MLB stars who are completely dominating the Little League World series. Yesterday, the crew took down Post Oak Little League from Houston—Texas' top team—in a 2–1 victory. This puts the crew one step away from joining the U.S. Finals, according to The New York Times. Everything might be bigger in Texas, but the boys proved that competing against the Empire State is no easy feat.

We can only hope for the competition's sake that these young fellas are bringing their A-game against NYC's all-stars. Mid-Island Little League went undefeated this year and dominated a total of 15 games, so it's no surprise that their streak continues in the biggies (well, the Little League biggies at any rate). New Yorkers were gathering in local bars and even making their way to the Little League World Series itself to catch a glimpse of the action, The Times further reported.

Fingers crossed that the wins continue: The boys are playing Honolulu on Wednesday at 7:30pm, which will air on ESPN. There's nothing like wrapping up the summer with a good ball game, and we are certainly rooting for these young men!
