Chinese food and donuts don’t necessarily make sense together, but as we all learned from Green Eggs and Ham, that’s no reason to rule out the combo. Sammy’s Chinese Noodle Shop on Sixth Avenue now has a next-door sibling, Sammy’s Donut Shop, where a fresh selection of fried beauties shows up every morning: powdered-sugar-dusted-and-raspberry-filled, Boston cream, toasted-coconut-covered—all best consumed with a cup of dark Dallis Brothers coffee. The quasi-health-conscious might prefer lightly glazed whole-wheat donuts with a cup of hand-bagged tisanes (herbal tea), Tiger Spice chai or coco loco, a sweet infusion of vanilla, chocolate and rooibos tea.
