This relaxed Soho home for knitting, sewing and quilting recently relocated—its new digs are four times larger than the original and sport a dedicated classroom. The beginner's knitting class ($45 for one session) welcomes kids ages eight and up as long as they don't mind sitting through the two-hour lesson. Purl also sells materials to make blankets by hand.
