Time Out says

Originally a Prohibition-era speakeasy, this comfortable, low-ceilinged 160-seat East Village fixture has been through several incarnations. It was long known as the Pearl Theater, though the classic company departed for uptown digs in 2009, and now the owner has rededicated himself to the space, with plans to reanimate the attached café and run films in addition to theatrical and dance offerings.
