Bloomingdale School of Music is one of the best kept secrets in New York City. Although most students are from the Upper West Side, anyone from any neighborhood can take classes. They also give guitar, violin, singing, and group/band lessons. It's a gem, and there's often a waiting list, so contact them as soon as you're even thinking about lessons.
