Root, root, root for the home team at Coney Island’s MCU Park, where Mets’ farm team, the Brooklyn Cyclones, play steps away from the boardwalk and beach. Young’uns don’t have to be experts in America’s favorite pastime to enjoy the hot dogs and ice cream, sea breeze on their face and the silly on-field antics of the mascots and entertainers between innings. The short-season is chock-full of special themed games: At Marvel Superhero Day, fans dress as their favorite costumed crusader, and the first 1,500 kids under age 16 receive a Captain America bobblehead; youngsters are encouraged to dress like damsels and swashbucklers at Princess & Pirate Night, which also includes postshow fireworks.
