Whether pop is into crafting alongside the kids, cheering for the home team while eating Cracker Jacks or traveling back in time to the Civil War era, the city is full of kid-friendly Father’s Day activities to honor the special man in your family's life. Celebrate all weekend long (this year, Father’s Day falls on Sunday,June 16) at one of our favorite Father's Day activities or by heading outdoors—many of the city's parks have special weekend events and are, also, prime spots for barbecuing Dad's signature burgers. Happy Father's Day!
Father's Day activities
Kids speak into a microphone and design a card for Dad—all with the power of their own voice. First, they'll choose a custom pattern (themes include Dizzy DNA or Round and Round), then by talking, singing or making silly sounds, graphic art will appear on a print that can be crafted into a card, T–shirt or saved for later use. Registration is required for this event; RSVP at voicepainter.com. Ages 7 to 12.
Rev up traditional Father's Day gifts like neckties, picture frames and greeting cards with fun accouterments from the Painted Cloud's hefty supply of sequins, ribbons, beats, feathers and lace. The studio provides all materials, but kids can feel free to bring their own extras as well. RSVP is required for this event; e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Ages 2 to 9.
