It’s curl-up-with-cocoa-and-a-good-read season. Ditch the Swiss Miss for the real stuff at City Bakery (3 W 18th St at Fifth Ave, 212-366-1414), where the Classic Hot Chocolate ($4.50) is a cup of liquid, G-rated sin. Top each treat with a house-made marshmallow for an extra 50 apiece.

Then pop over to Books of Wonder (18 W 18th St between Fifth and Sixth Aves, 212-989-3270) to read tomes aloud to your two charges, or if you’re stopping by on a Sunday, to attend a gratis noon storytime, where a kid-lit expert will relieve you of your daily Fancy Nancy recitation. With tummies still full of cocoa, your companions should be able to resist the goodies at the in-store Cupcake Caf, so spring for a pair of pocket-sized activity books ($1.50 each), full of games and stickers, and just right for the next snow day.
