From watching animals at the Staten Island Zoo enjoy their own feast to learning about the history of the holiday, these Turkey Day-themed events teach kids about the significance of Thanksgiving.

Though not often a holiday connected with music, Thanksgiving gives us plenty to sing about. Join bluegrass wonders Astrograss as they serenade the Living Room with Turkey Day-inspired tunes. You'll hear songs about eating, table manners, and American history. And with the band leading instrument demonstrations, sing-alongs and a dance contest, it's impossible not to get in the holiday spirit. All ages.

Kids 'N Comedy: Thanks, I Guess?

Giving thanks is an important part of the Thanksgiving tradition, but what about those things we're not so grateful for? Stop by and listen to hilarious local teens churn out jokes about that certain subway smell, talking animals, and other topics sure to be ignored at the Thanksgiving dinner table. Ages 9 and up.

For the 86th year, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will usher in the holiday season with familiar sights like giant balloons, high-kicking Rockettes and Santa’s sleigh, plus celebrity appearances. New balloons to keep an eye out for include Elf on a Shelf and characters from the popular children's network Sprout.
