The Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre will present a collection of Czech, Slovak, and Italian fairy tales for young theater-goers. Four performers/puppeteers and four dozen marionettes play out the fables with Czech folk tunes sung a capella. On each Saturday during the show’s run at 3pm, Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre founder Vít Horejš will perform The Winter Tales, a one-man show with antique wooden puppets that speak in a dozen voices, sing, dance, and play the violin. ($12, children $8; ages 4 and up). Three Golden Hairs of Grandfather Wisdom for ages 5 and up.

Saw this last Saturday evening - so funny and a brilliant, combination of absurd folklore and very clever puppetry, with top-notch New York actors wearing many hats and playing diverse characters. It's really intriguing, you cannot guess what will come next!  From every corner of the stage a new character and prop appears, taking on a life of its own. Just as you are getting familiar with the prop and the character, "poof", it all metamorphoses into the most unlikely new scenario and off you go to a new venture every few minutes. Check this out!  Kids would love it, there is a Saturday matinee and I am living proof that the adults were howling with laughter at the evening show I saw. It's only on for two more weekends so give it a whirl!
