15 photos of NYC when it froze solid this week

By Time Out New York editors

The deep freeze that has blanketed New York City in an icy terror is set to retreat this week. A chilly Christmas, frigid New Year’s Eve and a “bomb cyclone” have left people across town feeling frostbitten and desperate for temperatures above freezing. We dug through Instagram feeds and ventured out across towns with our phones and cameras in hand, determined to find you the most compelling images of NYC during the frosty start to 2018. Here are the 15 best we came across—hopefully they make you feel better about living in a place that was literally colder than parts of Antarctica at the start of the year.
