New York's restaurant scene is many things: expensive, competitive, occasionally impossible to get into and never short on opinions. What it definitely isn't, though, is overlooked.

Still, if anyone needed another reminder of the city's culinary dominance, North America's 50 Best Restaurants just delivered one.

The organization behind the annual rankings unveiled its 2026 list of the continent's top dining destinations last night and New York landed a staggering 13 restaurants in the top 50—more than any other city in North America.

Leading the charge is Atomix, which ranked No. 7 overall. The acclaimed NoMad restaurant from husband-and-wife team Junghyun "JP" Park and Ellia Park has become one of the most influential fine-dining restaurants in the country thanks to its intimate 14-seat counter, meticulously crafted Korean tasting menu and distinctive storytelling approach. The restaurant was previously named North America's best restaurant and remains the highest-ranked New York entry on this year's list.

A trio of relative newcomers also cracked the top 15:

At No. 10, César continues its meteoric rise. Chef César Ramirez's Soho restaurant opened in 2024 and quickly earned two Michelin stars, with its globally inspired seafood-focused tasting menu helping it jump 28 spots from last year's ranking.

Le Veau d'Or landed at No. 12, capping a remarkable comeback story for the Upper East Side institution. Originally opened in 1937, the beloved French bistro was revived in 2024 by chefs Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr, who have preserved its vintage charm while turning it into one of the city's most sought-after reservations.

Just behind it, at No. 14, is Kabawa, chef Paul Carmichael's Caribbean fine-dining restaurant, housed in the former Momofuku Ko space. Opened only last year, the restaurant has quickly become one of New York's buzziest tables, drawing diners with bold island flavors, nostalgic influences and a distinctly joyful approach to fine dining.

Elsewhere on the list, familiar names continue to hold their ground. Le Bernardin came in at No. 13, followed by Jungsik (No. 18), Penny (No. 19) and Aska (No. 23). The lower half of the ranking includes newer standouts like Corima (No. 36) and Torrisi (No. 38), alongside perennial favorites Tatiana by Kwame Onwuachi (No. 39), Semma (No. 41) and Gramercy Tavern (No. 43).

In other words, if you've been putting off making that restaurant reservation, you may want to stop procrastinating.
