Time Out says

At the Textile Arts Center (TAC), there are numerous workshops and intensives available to teach adults and children a range of creative skills. Students can explore their many single-day or weekend intensive courses, which last for six hours each day. For example, their Screen Printing with Natural Dyes program helps students learn the basics of screen printing. The course focuses on using natural dyes and other sustainable materials instead of synthetic tools. There are also plenty of evening workshops that last for two hours after work, perfect for those with busy schedules who still want an opportunity to get creative. Some of the evening workshops include Tapestry Weaving, Bead Embroidery, and Indigo Dyeing.

TAC also offers various four-week programs, like the Soft Sculptures and Inflatables course. Here, students will transform flat, flexible materials into three-dimensional sculptures using air and other filler materials. This course will help strengthen other creative skills like making patterns and using a sewing machine. There is also a Felting 101 class that lasts four weeks, where students will learn to create artwork using flat felt pieces as well as 3D felt forms like slippers and pillows. Other four-week programs include Bioplastic Embellishment, Quilting, and Zero Waste Sewing.

The faculty at TAC is dedicated to igniting a communal passion for handmade crafts, highlighting the historical importance of practical techniques like sewing and weaving. In addition to their public classes, TAC is also involved in a number of community-based initiatives. For instance, their Sewing Seeds program was designed to foster education and awareness around the importance of using natural dyes as a way to create more sustainable artwork.

Former TAC students largely report enjoying their experiences and would recommend their courses to others. Many people state feeling surprised and happy with what they were able to create in a short time and feel they can immediately apply their skills to their own creative projects at home. The instructors at TAC are often described as being helpful and patient, especially towards beginners. Students also appreciated the opportunity to meet new people from different backgrounds who share similar interests.
