Sure, it’s the service, decor, drinks and even bar bites that determine the bar’s final score. But what’s a good vibe without great company and unbeatable tunes that you can sing your inebriated heart out to? Let’s face it: without music, bars are a little deadbeat.

Despite the temporary suspension of live music at the mo, most bars in Singapore, including nightclubs-turned-bars, are still soundtracking your evening wind-down, with everything from old-school hip-hop and R&B to jazz and classical music. And if you’re genre-specific, we’ve narrowed down the best bars where you can indulge in a smooth tipple with the music garnish that matches your music taste.

For new and old-school hip-hop

A cool kid's cave, Cherry Discotheque is the epitome of underground parties. It first opened doors in 2016 beneath York Hotel before relocating to Cecil Street. Before the circuit breaker, you’d find Millenial and Gen Z night owls in their freshest streetwear drip flocking to the nightclub on Friday and Saturday nights.
