Many of us breathed a sigh of relief when the Singapore government announced that nightlife is back in business. On April 20, our favourite party institutions such as Zouk and Cherry Discotheque finally got their turntables spinning, strobe lights flashing, and dancefloors alive again.

Of course, we're not out of the pandemic woods yet – which means that safe management measures (SMMs) still apply. For would-be partygoers, don't let your planned night of fun turn to waste because you didn't get ART-tested or forgot to pre-book a slot with the club. Before you head out to dance the night away, here's what you need to know.

Get an ART license to party

That's right – if you want to party then you've got to get yourself a negative antigen rapid test (ART) supervised by a Ministry of Health-approved test provider. You can do this in person or remotely, and some nightclubs are even so nice as to have booths set up outside their venues. You must get tested at most 24 hours before the end of your attendance at the club, and your test result will be valid for 24 hours from the time of the result.

No cap on your party posse – but be safe

The rules might've relaxed now and you can party with a big group but do be smart about mingling around – also, everyone has to be vaccinated. Party safe and have fun!

Boogie – with masks on

You should know by now that rules regarding mask wearing have been eased. Wearing masks outdoors is now optional, though wearing masks indoors is still compulsory. So, for you late-night revellers, that means you have to keep your masks on when you're in the club. Only take it off to eat or drink, but you must put your masks back on after. Better prepare your best 'smize' to seduce that cutie across the dancefloor then.

Pre-book your night of fun

Nightclubs are currently operating under capacity restrictions to prevent crowding and the spread of Covid-19. And after prolonged closure during the pandemic, many are labouring under manpower shortages too. To help manage, clubs like Zouk and and Yang Club Singapore require you to pre-book a slot for admission. Zouk is completely booked out for the month of May, so plan well in advance if you want to join the party.

Zouk
  • Clubs
  • Raffles Place

Zouk Singapore, our city's longest running entertainment institution, has withstood the lows of the pandemic by pivoting to offshoot concepts including spin classes, pop-up dining, and cinematic experiences. That has put it in good stead to welcome revellers to its dancefloors on April 20. Head down to the Cannery Block for some signature Zouk fun with long-standing DJs such as Jeremy Boon. Helpfully, Zouk has ART testing booths right outside the club ($20) – for those who want to skip the hassle of scheduling a supervised test yourself. And do remember to pre-book your slot with Zouk because walk-ins are currently not accepted.

Cherry Discotheque
  • Nightlife
  • Clubs
  • Raffles Place

For a while there, Cherry Discotheque was a diner and supper club – a move that has helped it tide through long closure of nightclubs during the pandemic. Now, this old school hip-hop haven is back for those thirsting to get down and groovy on the dance floor.  Cherry Discotheque has also made on-site testing available, costing just $15.

If you're happy to lounge with stellar cocktails and top-notch music, then make CÉ LA VI your party destination. The rooftop club has decided not to reopen its dancefloors yet, instead sticking to its 'high-energy sky lounge' concept. So book a table with your best buds and enjoy dance hall-infused hits, old school hip hop, Top 40sm pop, disco – all the works, depending on the day of the week you decide to visit. And of course, indulge in the jaw-dropping views of the city skyline while indulging in delectable booze and bites from the SkyBar or BAO by CÉ LA VI menu.

Because CÉ LA VI is not opening its dancefloors, pre-event ART testing is not required.
