A cup of coffee sounds perfect in the midst of running Chinese New Year errands, and we've got the perfect spots to help you unwind, recharge and refuel as you take a break from the chaos this month.

If you're in the East, stop by Dona Manis' new dine-in space where you get to indulge in a slice of its gooey banana pie on the spot. Then check out Diff, a minimalist coffee bar in the unlikeliest of locations (read: a food court in Lavender). Pop by Puny Platypus, buried deep inside residential Kovan, and serving some of the creamiest foam-topped coffees out of a pocket-sized shop. Nearer to town, in Redhill, support local artists while writing a note to your future self at Postboy Coffee, an interesting café concept with a good cause. Finally, in the heart of town, there's Elephant Grounds, Hong Kong's trendy café chain that has finally found its way to Singapore. Here are five new cafés to add to your February hit list.

1. Dona Manis Heritage Bakehouse

Dona Manis banana pie loyalists will finally get the chance to eat them fresh and on the spot, with the opening of the bakery's first dine-in café. The heritage brand has called Katong Shopping Centre home since the 1990s, selling its crowd-favourite confectionery in takeaway boxes. Its new sit-down café is located along East Coast Road, with about five tables split between indoor and outdoor areas. Come early to snag a spot and enjoy Dona Manis' signature Nanyang-style banana pie, studded with pisang berangan (ang bak jio) – a regional banana variety. Moist and sweet on the inside, while golden-brown and crumbly on the outside, every bite is a warm hug and nostalgic throwback to the 90s. Have these alongside other bakes like creamy chicken pies, chocolate walnut cookies, pandan chiffon cakes and lemon curd tarts, and wash it all down with a fragrant cuppa from PPP Coffee.

Address: 95 E Coast Rd, Singapore 428793
Opening hours:
Mon 10am-4pm; Tue-Sun 10am-7pm

2. Elephant Grounds

Elephant Grounds is the Hong Kong equivalent of Tiong Bahru Bakery, PS. Cafe or Common Man Coffee Roasters in Singapore. The brand finally lands on our sunny shores this year, with a bright and airy outlet at Guoco Midtown II. Sandwiched in between office buildings, the joint sees plenty of working professionals in the day, sipping on an afternoon cuppa with laptops out. The house blend is sourced from Ijen Lestari in East Java and locally roasted, served in the chain's iconic orange paper cups with its logo. Those who want something apart from the usual coffee selection can try one of its special beverages, whether it's a rich coconut oil and butter-infused coffee called Bulletproof, or a micro-aerated iced Americo that doesn't use milk. You'll also find an extensive food menu with all-day brunch, packed with options like healthy grain bowls, carb-heavy pastas, classic brunch fare and more. Plus points go to the pastries that are freshly baked in-house daily.

Address: 124 Beach Rd, Guoco Midtown II, #01-04, Singapore 189771
Opening hours: Daily 8am-8pm

3. Postboy Coffee

You might have heard of Nuldam Space, the Korean café at Scape that lets you pen a letter to your future self while sipping on a cup of coffee. A similar concept has opened near Redhill MRT at Enabling Village's new I'mable Collective Space. The difference? Postboy Coffee champions inclusivity, with postcards and merch designed by local artists with disabilities. The space has a clean, modern and bright layout, with a pop of cobalt blue peeking through in its t-shirt merch aisle and takeaway bags. It's relatively empty on weekdays for now, with the occasional guest working on their laptop – there are plenty of power sockets around if you're planning a quick work sesh. The beverage menu is pretty varied, with the usual espresso-based blends, as well as variations like Spanish latte, white mocha, filtered coffee, matcha white chocolate and more. Meanwhile, the food menu is rather lean, with cookies and pastries on display. Pro-tip: Follow Postboy Coffee's socials for updates on upcoming workshops (past iterations include fabric stamping, bookbinding and more).

Address: 20 Lengkok Bahru, #02-01, Singapore 159053
Opening hours:
Daily 10am-6pm

4. Puny Platypus Coffee

One might argue that there isn't much to check out in sleepy Kovan, but if we lived in the area, you might find us hitting up this hole-in-the-wall coffee bar every other day. Puny Platypus started as a passion project by ex-Atlas Coffeehouse barista Zac Tan, out of his five-room flat in Hougang. The home-based business picked up traction in the second half of 2025, and now, Puny Platypus has a second location: a pocket-sized joint in the residential mall Promenade @ Pelikat. With just two counter seats and a small bench indoors, it isn't quite a full-fledged café fit for dine-in, but you can still grab a seat at the camping chairs outdoors, or one of the benches around the mall. While Zac can brew a faultless cup of espresso, the highlights here are the specialty drinks, particularly the cloud series. The Mont Blanc sees iced black topped with a sea salt milk foam, and is incredibly smooth with the faint aroma of orange zest, while the Coco Matcha is balanced, with a harmonious blend of coconut water and matcha milk foam.

Address: 183 Jln Pelikat, Promenade @ Pelikat, #B1-83, Singapore 537643
Opening hours: Thu-Tue 9am-4.30pm

5. Diff

Who knew you'd be able to get excellent filter and espresso-based coffee in a food court? Sounds too good to be true, but it's a reality at Diff, located at CT Hub 2 in Lavender. Expect clean, sleek lines and a modern minimalist look, stainless steel tabletops and backsplashes, and friendly baristas working behind the counters, while the La Marzocco machine hums away. There isn't a dedicated seating area. Instead, guests are free to sit at any of the benches in the food court. The joint works with some familiar names in the coffee scene, both locally and regionally. Those in the know will recognise Fluid Collective Co., which Diff sources some of its beans and blends from, as well as Niko Neko from Kuala Lumpur, which supplies the matcha used in the café's matcha Basque cheesecake. Recently, Diff also introduced its indulgent banana matcha drink, featuring ceremonial-grade Yabukita matcha with a rounded profile and smooth mouthfeel, crowned with a scoop of luscious banana mascarpone.

Address: 114 Lavender St, CT HUB 2, Inside Local Chapter, #01-68, Singapore 338729
Opening hours: Mon 8am-1.30pm; Wed-Fri 8am-5pm; Sat-Sun 10am-5pm
