National Day falls on a Saturday this year, which means that many of us are set to enjoy a long weekend with a day off in lieu on Monday. For those who aren’t joining in on the fanfare at NDP 2025 or catching the fireworks displays in town or the heartlands, you’re probably in the midst of packing your luggage for a quick getaway. After all, there’s been a 17 percent year-on-year increase in outbound bookings from Singapore during the National Day period, according to travel booking site Trip.com.

But where exactly is everyone flying off to?

Unsurprisingly, short trips around the region are most commonplace during this period. The destinations that rank highest based on booking volume are all within Asia, with Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Shanghai making the top three. Other ever-popular places include Bali (#5), Ho Chi Minh (#7), and Seoul (#10).

Top 10 travel destinations for Singaporeans during National Day 2025

  1. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
  2. Bangkok, Thailand
  3. Shanghai, China
  4. Hong Kong
  5. Bali, Indonesia
  6. Penang, Malaysia
  7. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
  8. Guangzhou, China
  9. Jakarta, Indonesia
  10. Seoul, South Korea

Japan, a perennial favourite that has been getting a record-breaking influx of Singaporean visitors as of late, isn’t on the ranks this time. This could likely be due to Japan’s scorching heatwave during August, or the fact that travellers just prefer having longer trips there.

There’s only one public holiday long weekend left in 2025, so make the most of it and plan a quick trip in the region using the above list as inspiration for your next adventure. Alternatively, the opposite works if you’re trying to escape the crowds – just look at destinations outside of these 10 hot spots instead.
