We feel pretty great about being in Singapore right now, and why wouldn't we when we're one of the 50 Best Cities in the World for 2024? Singapore ranked #22 on the list, one of three Asian cities to make it to the top 25 behind Tokyo (#8) and Mumbai (#12).

The list is based on Time Out's annual survey of thousands of city-dwellers around the world. Working with Potentia Insight, we spoke to locals to find out what makes their cities great places to live, work and play in, looking at things to do, quality and affordability of food, beauty and cleanliness, sense of community, and much more. We also asked respondents which other city they would most like to live in and combined their views with that of more than 100 Time Out staff writers and editors globally.

Singapore impressed respondents with its vibrant food and nightlife scenes (these received 91 percent and 80 percent approval ratings respectively) – and that's not surprising, considering that we're home to some of the best restaurants in the world and truly incredible, affordable hawker eats. Don't even get us started on Singapore's thriving bar scene, plus a nightlife scene that has massive, glitzy venues like Marquee alongside pop-up parties from collectives and organisers like Ice Cream Sundays, Darker Than Wax, Manifest and GrooveTop.

Our island-city punches above its weight in other categories too. You'll never find yourself short of things to do: check out our emerging thrifting scene at shops like NearesTTen and The Née Vintage Store or leave the hustle behind at these great hiking trails and spots. 2024 is only bringing more excitement with at least 10 new attractions, including a blockbuster arts enclave and a huge new oceanarium.

Singapore's also a great jump-off point to visit the rest of Asia. If you're in the region, why not make plans to visit two other Asian cities in the top 25? An eternal favourite, Tokyo came in at #8 – impressing respondents with its dynamic nature. In short, there's always something new to do, see, eat, and drink in Tokyo. And if you want to experience all the contrasting charms of India captured in one city, then Mumbai (#12) is the place for you.

You can also strike further out to New York city, 2024's best city in the world. The Big Apple is for those with boundless energy and a voracious appetite for all things culture. Visit this year to catch all the incredible shows coming to Broadway, see the exhibits at iconic museums like MoMa, and experience grassroots events like the Queens Night Market in Flushing.
