The southeastern neighbourhoods of Tanah Merah and Simei may be a little quieter than food haven Bedok and bustling Tampines but it is also home to plenty of interesting spots. The area used to be a Malay village and a large part of it used to be a Chinese cemetery – but all of that is gone now. While Tanah Merah has a more industrial vibe, Simei is a small residential neighbourhood. These days, it is home to iconic supper spot Simpang Bedok, the NEWater Visitor's Centre, outlet shopping hub Changi City Point and a park connector with dinosaurs and more.
