The new Manly Andrew ‘Boy Charlton Aquatic Centre will officially open its doors on Saturday August 13 with free public entry, free swimming and free use of the centre’s spa and wellness facilities.

The new indoor aquatic centre has a 25-metre, eight-lane heated lap pool, an indoor spa pool, a sauna and steam room, and a fully equipped gym with a new program of fitness classes. Plus, two heated outdoor pools (50 and 25 metres) and an outdoor heated toddlers’ pool and a babies’ pool.

It’s been a relatively controversial development with some local residents taking to quiet protests outside the centre over the estimated $26 million cost. After the official opening, the centre will be open all year round and general admission will be $8 for adults and $13 for use of the spa, sauna and steam room.

The Northern Beaches Council will conduct the official opening at 10am on Saturday August 13. Free entry will be available to the public from 10am-7pm. For more information, visit Manly Andrew ‘Boy’ Charlton Aquatic Centre’s website.
