Sydney's CBD will be welcoming some sub-Antarctic buddies when Sea Life Sydney Aquarium opens a brand new penguin exhibition this summer.

The aquarium have just announced they will be welcoming a bunch of the flightless birds to the Darling Harbour attraction when it opens the Penguin Island Expedition. There will be two species on show – the cheeky Gentoo penguin and the majestic King penguin. Visitors will view the penguins from a raft ride which will float through an custom made, chilled (literally, to 6 degrees) environment, allowing riders to see the feathered friends right up close. The exhibit is set to cost a cool $9 million and is the venue's largest creature investment since the Aquarium first opened 28 years ago.
