Read our five-star review of Sydney Theatre Company's hit musical.

Securing good seats to a hit show like Muriel’s Wedding the Musical can be pretty tough. How do you get close to the action when the only seats left are in the nosebleed section? Sydney Theatre Company is offering the chance to not only get close but actually be a part of the musical's action, with a special 'On Stage Wedding Guest Experience'. It's on sale through December 30, and it'll only set you back $75.

The wedding scene has to be big, and instead of forking out cash on more extras, STC is enlisting the help of its audience.

You'll watch most of the show from the back row of the stalls – which are actually pretty fancy seats, the ones directly in front of you are going for a cool $125 some nights. You can't see the very top of the stage from back there, but you'll be able to see the actors clearly.

Just before the wedding scene, you'll be ushered onto the stage to mingle with Muriel's family and friends. There's not a whole lot of acting required either: all you have to do is stand when the bride enters and then watch the scene.

All up, you'll be on stage for a four-minute song, and you'll miss ten to 15 minutes of the second act as you head backstage to take your position. You don't even need to dress up for it (although it'd be better if you did).

A walk-on role is hardly a new thing – Opera Australia offered one for $4999 earlier this year – but we think this one is a pretty sweet deal. See the full terms and conditions and booking info.
