After months of being trapped inside, the idea of streaming spooky movies at home this Halloween might be the scariest notion of all. Instead, if you’re simply dying to get outside, why not trade the small screen for the silver one after dark, down by the water?
Georges River Council is bringing back its Frightful 80s Drive-in Cinema at Donnelly Park, Connells Point. This year you can pull up and settle in for a screening of the cult classic vampire film The Lost Boys the night before All Hallows' Eve on Saturday, October 30. Load up at food trucks slinging tasty treats and desserts and take in the moody, spooky, utterly '80s fantasy of the vampy flick that has had many teen hearts racing over the years. The park opens at 5pm and the movie mayhem flickers to life at 7.30pm.
And the best news? This spooktacular is totally free, you just need to get in quick before the drive-in fills up, with gates opening from 5pm. And ‘80s appropriate freaky dress-ups are actively encouraged, not just for you. There is a $500 prize for 'Best Dressed Car'. So swathe your wheels in stringy spider webs, flickering jack-o'-lanterns and assorted disassembled bodyparts and you could nab the cash and the honour of having the spookiest car. Whoooooo hoooo boooo.
