Travel to Broken Hill for the world's largest solar powered film festival

Broken Hill has an impressive cinematic history with classics Wake in Fright (1971), The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert (1994) and Mad Max 2 (1981) all filmed there.

It's also the site of the annual Perfect Light Film Festival, a completely free weekend event including an opening party, an outdoor short film competition in Sturt Park, and a one-day filmmaking workshop.

Founded by actor Steve Basoni, the festival is a chance for filmmakers to lift their profile and learn from industry greats. In 2017 the free workshop will be held by Wayne Blair (The Sapphires), who will also be judging the films alongside actors Micahela Banas, Steve Bisley, Nicole da Silva and Quentin Kenihan.

The website helpfully explains how you can get to Broken Hill for the event, and where to stay.
