Pop on some lippy for this '50s-style bottomless drag lunch

Shake out your petticoat and tighten those victory rolls. Hot on the crystal-encrusted heels of their celebrated x-rated dining experience Rood Food, the Imperial is bringing a touch of old-fashioned class to the weekends with a '50s flavoured drag'n'dine.

Every Saturday and Sunday in November you can sit down to a plant-based banquet and retro-inspired drag entertainment, topped off with two hours of bottomless bubbles (or seasonal fruit mocktails). Your hostess for this ravishing rendezvous is old-school glamour Peach Fuzz. She’ll be serving up portions of 1950s-style drag with all the lip-synching, dancing comedic joys the Imperial is known for.

The summery menu has some eclectic shared dishes to start – with a Californian-inspired guacamole with blue corn chips; mast-o khiar, a Persian cucumber and herb yogurt topped with rose petals; and the Imperial’s signature coconut ceviche. The mains really put veggies in the spotlight, with the choice of a herby half-roasted cauliflower served with traditional Lebanese garlic sauce and pickles, or a Beyond Meat banger with summer squash and zucchini.

Reservations are a must, and at just $59 for all that food and tipple, do you need much more of an excuse to gather up your best Judy’s and live out your tipsy 50s housewife fantasy?
