Run for equality

Dress up in your favourite rainbow-coloured running gear and race in support of marriage equality in the annual Rainbow Run. This year the event is helping to kick of Mardi Gras, celebrating the festival's 40th birthday and Australia's historic marriage equality vote.

The fun run is open to all abilities and you can choose to run or walk the 2km, 4km or 6km courses around Sydney Park. Runners will take their marks at 9am, but you'll have to be there by 8.30am to get set up. The course will be lined with the event's drag queens, who will have their water guns at the ready to cool down any tired runners.

It’s a family-friendly event with proceeds from the event going to the Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby, who work to combat homophobia and transphobia in schools as well as domestic and family violence. Kids can enter the Rainbow Run free of charge and its the perfect opportunity to experience the colour and atmosphere of Mardi Gras if you can't make it to the parade.
