Move over Netflix, Stan, Amazon Prime and Binge, there’s another streaming service in town, and it’s offering up access to so much more than the usual line-up of reality TV and '90s sitcoms.

The aptly named Stream is Sydney Opera House’s new digital platform. Sign up is free, and there is a wealth of content to discover, including musical performances by local and international acts, one-on-one talks, concert films, theatrical productions, and digital art by boundary-pushing artists and technologists.

Dedicated to making the art performed on the Sydney Opera House stages as accessible to audiences as possible, Stream currently boasts more than 50 hours of programming across more than 100 titles, with new material announced monthly. And while much of it is free to view, prices for the latest rentals start at just $10.

So, what’s new to Stream in August? Plenty, if you’re a fan of lively discussions, rousing orchestral performances and contemporary dance.

The long-running podcast Ideas at the House comes to life in a series of one-on-one interviews. Host Edwina Throsby will be joined by some of the most inspiring women of the moment – including Yumi Stynes, FlexMami, Ione Skye and Tilly Lawless – to discuss life, success, feminism and career.

For a concert experience that feels just like the real thing, the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s four-film StudioCasts collection is a must-see. Featuring renditions of Beethoven’s ‘Cavatina’, Bach’s ‘The Musical Offering’ and Tchaikovsky's ‘Serenade for Strings’, the stirring performances are only elevated by the flawless cinematography and sound.

Prepare to feel energized by the Jamestown Collective’s Infusion: No Movement No Sound, an uplifting show headed up by Ghanaian dancer and musician Lucky Lartey. Filmed live in the Sydney Opera House Studio in June, it celebrates African, Indian and Australian cultures through rhythm, storytelling and modern dance.

Then there’s the latest instalment of digital art series Shortwave, presented by Western Sydney-based artist and musician Kalanjay Dhir, while Mesmerism by Ensemble Offspring is an eclectic show led by acclaimed percussionist, Claire Edwardes. And the kids will love the behind-the-scenes tour of the Sydney Opera House, which explores the beloved building’s history, architecture and cultural significance.

Think of it as the best from the Sydney Opera House stages plus a whole lot moreall from the comfort of your couch. Sign up now to Stream and start watching – you won't regret it.
