Summer’s barely left the building, but we’re already hyped for winter because we have our first announcement for Sydney’s biggest winter festival, Vivid Sydney. Grammy award-winning Solange Knowles is the first act on the line-up for Vivid Live, the contemporary live music program at Sydney Opera House.

Playing exclusively at Vivid Live, Solange will perform her acclaimed breakthrough album A Seat at the Table for the first time in Australia. Tickets for the June 1-4 shows will be available through a ballot system, which is open right now. You have seven days to make an application for tickets, successful applicants will then be notified via email with a link to purchase tickets between 10am-4pm (AEDT) on Thursday March 8.

It’s expected to be a spectacular show; Solange will perform in the round, offering audiences a 360° view of her, the cinematic sets and accompanying dancers. We repeat: these four dates are her only scheduled shows in the country.

Tickets range from $79-$137, which is stupidly cheap considering Solange’s global recognition as a powerhouse of R’n’B and her politically charged music championing and challenging black American identity.

The full Vivid Live program will be announced in mid-March. Watch this space for more information on the tenth year of the world’s largest winter festival of light, music and ideas.

Register for the ballot before Sunday March 4.
