There is a lot riding on the 2022 Federal Election, with the spiraling cost of living, surging interest rates, civil liberties and human rights debates that should long be over by now, disaster relief, inaction on the climate crisis, and a whole heap of other thorny political hot potatoes hanging in the balance.

But there's another major concern to keep front of mind when the nation goes to the polls: where to find a democracy sausage. Well, thanks to this handy online map, it's never been easier to bag a snag after casting your vote.

No matter where you land on the political spectrum, the democracy saussie is the great equaliser and one of the more wholesome elements of the wailing and gnashing of teeth that often ensues during election time.

The website even has little icons so you can toggle between vego options, bacon and egg rolls, and coffee and other snacks to keep you fed and watered while waiting in line to have your voice heard.

The site has logged the tasty offerings of hundreds of polling booths, as well as collating info on where the money raised will be going. For instance, Tempe High School voting booths will have vego and vegan-friendly options, halal sausages, a bake sale, photoshoots with your pup, and even a nail painting booth. All proceeds raised will be going to the very worthy cause of upgrading the sandpit and Koori Kids area at Tempe Public School including new sand, soil, and indigenous planting.

Kensington Public School is upping the ante with the addition of coffee carts, sausages, a bake sale and halal, vegetarian and even a pre-loved book sale. Funds will go towards creating a native garden wellness space for the kids.

The Democracy Sausage site was launched in Western Australia back in 2013 and has since become a go-to for federal, state and local government elections across the country. The site is also a fascinating insight into the eating habits of different states, with crocodile snags offered on the reg' in the Northern Territory and fancy relish facing off against a Rosella tomato sauce across the nation.

You can also keep up to date on election day via the Democracy Sausage Facebook page here, which will be updated regularly with the best in show across this, our sunburnt country.
