At this point, we’ve got fresh produce, fabulous local snacks and one-off fashion, art and homewares covered at Sydney’s best markets. What is yet to arrive on the city’s shores is a monthly market dedicated to bespoke booze, featuring local alcohol connoisseurs from gin distillers to vintners, whisky hounds and craft beer and cider pros. This is exactly what the new Craft Drinks Market is promising: a haven for unusual tastings and a hotspot to purchase the country’s finest and funkiest boozy beverages.
The debut market will pour first drinks at the EQ on December 8, with a plan to continue as a regular affair on the second Sunday of every month. The festivities will surely be ringing with some Christmas cheer as you meet the makers behind some of Australia’s favourite spirits, wines, beers and ciders, taste a few vintages and buy a few bottles.
While a couple of brew houses and wine experts will be in attendance, the focus is skewed towards the hard stuff. A couple of the beloved names on the bill include Manly Spirits and Brix Distillers, plus others from further afield like Byron Bay’s Brookies, Karu Distillery from the Hawkesbury and Wollongong’s South Coast Distillery.
It’ll cost you $10 for entry to this boozy wonderland, but you get to knock $5 off your first purchase once you’re in with the ticket.
