It’s not every day a world-class racing event lands in your backyard, let alone one that transforms Sydney Harbour into the world’s most exciting racing on water. The KPMG Sydney Sail Grand Prix is back in town and we’re counting down all the ways you can get in on the action – from launch parties to the ultimate  viewing points (that double as mind-blowing picnic spots).

For the first time (ever), watch the flying F50 catamarans hit speeds of more than 100km/h from 5.30pm for a twilight window framed by the golden hour light. With tickets at all price points, it’s easy for everyone to get in on the action – whether it’s tuning in to Tech Talks on the latest and greatest in high-speed racing or watching from the comfort of your own boat.

Let the festivities commence with Dockside

Get the party started with an event that welcomes race weekend in style. Clock off on Friday evening and head to Glebe Island, Rozelle where the drinks are flowing, the beats are pumping and athletes are roaming for meet and greets. A live DJ sets the backdrop for Tech Talks on what makes the sport so thrilling, while F50s are craned out of the water after their practice. Secure your ticket here

Ferry it over to Shark Island’s Waterfront Premium experience

One of Sydney’s best harbour-side picnic spots transforms into a front-row seat to the adrenaline-fuelled SailGP action. Hop on return ferry transfers that take you from Barangaroo to Shark Island and settle in for live race commentary, uninterrupted views of the water, and giant screens so that you’ve got all angles covered. Adult premium tickets are $380 which also include gourmet eats and a premium beverage package. You can book yours here

Hop aboard an Official Spectator Boat

Want to step aboard like the athletes, but without the high pressure? There’s a range of spectator boats you can spend the day on that are positioned right in the exclusion zone for up-close racing action. Viewing-only packages start at $159 on the Magistic where you’ve got the option to purchase food and drink, $239 on the Starship Aqua and $299 on the Bella Vista (the latter two of which include canapés and a house beverage package). Book here before it’s too late!

BYOB (Bring Your Own Boat, that is)

Want in on the public inclusion zone but want to do so from the comfort of your own boat? When you purchase a souvenir SailGP flag, not only do you get the chance to proudly fly it on your vessel, but you earn yourself a spot right among the action, and access to in-depth briefing and race commentary via the radio. Prices start from $999 for boats up to 39ft (80ft being the maximum). Save your spot on the mesmerising Sydney Harbour here.

Whether you’re planning a birthday with family or friends, entertaining clients, hosting visiting internationals or simply looking for a standout way to experience Sydney Harbour, the KPMG Sydney Sail Grand Prix offers something for every kind of get-together. With multiple ways to watch, eat, drink and play across the weekend, it’s as much a social occasion as it is a world-class racing sport.

Tickets are selling fast across all ticketed categories so now’s the time to lock in your spot for one of Sydney’s most glamorous weekends on the water.
