Taste your way through Hurstville's streets at this Lunar New Year program

The Georges River Council is putting on a program of events to celebrate the flavours and colours of the 2021 Lunar New Year through an array of food, from February 12 to 27. February 12 marks the beginning of the Year of the Ox, the second character in the Chinese zodiac, which embodies the traits of honesty, positivity and hard work.

Book in for a 1.5-hour Lunar New Year tasting tour through Hurstville’s streets, sampling festive goodies and traditional treats like dumplings, bubble tea and radish cakes from China, Malaysia, Vietnam and other parts of East Asia. Tours leave at 11am on Friday 12 February, Saturday 13 February and Saturday 20 February ($44). Book online

Then, check out Little Lunar, an evening event at Hurstville Plaza showcasing the traditions of one of the most important dates in the Asian calendar in a bitesized format. It all kicks off at 5pm on Friday, February 19. For a grander celebration, the first annual In Good Taste Festival is perfect for the whole family, with a treasure trove of activities, cooking demonstrations, market stalls and tastings at Mortdale Park from 4pm on Saturday, February 27.
