This New Year’s Eve, Sails on Lavender Bay is hosting a nine-course degustation dinner that also treats guests to an up-close view of the Sydney Harbour fireworks. At $795 per person, it's certainly pricey, but the restaurant's location in McMahons Point, only moments north of the Harbour Bridge, makes it a stellar vantage point for witnessing both the 9pm and midnight shows.
Head chef James Wilson is still finalising the menu for this year, but for an indication of what the kitchen will be plating up, last year's NYE dinner featured dishes such as snow crab, with heirloom tomato consommé and sea greens, Cape Grim tenderloin with king brown mushrooms, onion and wasabi, and Kurobota pork belly with eggplant, black garlic and banyuls vinegar.
