Preparing for a party is always a hassle – you've got to think about your outfit, the guest list, the venue, food, drinks and so on. So, we found the best catering services in KL to help you cross out at least one problem from the equation.

Curbside Cantina

Whether you’re planning for a party of 40 or 3,000, Curbside Cantina have the chops to pull off catering for a party of any size. The popular Mexican food truck is a common sight at festivals and pop-ups with their fish tacos – the stuff of legend with hand-breaded dory fillet, cabbage and pickled onions drizzled with Curbside Cantina’s specialty sauces and cheese, encased within toasted flour tortillas.

Book the truck for RM1,200 per event and you’ll get their menu of said fish tacos alongside beef brisket tacos, mutton and spinach quesadillas, chipotle meatballs, spicy scampi, cauliflower poppers, churros, coconut chia pudding and more. Looking for their tacos but not the truck? Host your next party at Curbside Cantina’s brick-andmortar in TTDI from RM680, where you’ll be served Latin-Asian canapés. Or, go ahead and request a bespoke menu.

What better party food is there than fried chicken? Everyone who agrees with that statement would be glad to know that Mak Chick Yunai – a humble food truck that specialises in that brand of comfort food – hires out their food truck for events; plus, with a name like that, you’d have no doubt as to their specialty. Offering a menu replete with fried chicken items – think huge sloppy burgers with crispy fried chicken patties, fried chicken nuggets, chicken chops, fried chicken platter, nasi lemak ayam goreng and more – Mak Chick Yunai will set up shop at your event and provide six hours of service. If that’s too much fried chicken, there are also other dishes like kari ayam, rendang ayam, kari kambing and even a jumbo cheese hotdog. Fried chicken party, sorted.

48 Lorong Rahim Kajai 14, TTDI (017 606 5797/fb.com/ makchickyunai). Mon-Sat, Mon-Sat, 7pm-1.30am. From RM1,500. One week notice required.

You can’t go wrong with the winning formula of great Buffalo wings, burritos and nasi goreng kampung – which is why Flaming Wheels is still such a hit after all these years (they started out back in 2013). There are three standard packages to choose from (from RM588) – options include the small or big truck catering (with six food items of your choice and a minimum spend amount and service time) and their barbecue catering option (a fixed menu). Drinks

Billed as Malaysia’s first mobile cocktail truck, KL Scenarium provides the missing piece of any grand house party: a full-fledged cocktail bar. The 18-foot truck – nicknamed Britney – parks in your driveway for the duration of the party and brings with it a professional mixologist, serving staff and customisable LED lighting to go with your party’s theme. On the cocktail side, you can choose from a range of classic cocktails like Negronis, martinis and margaritas, or opt to have bespoke cocktails that are made in consultation with the bartenders. Those who want to take it up a notch can also order jello shots, boozy popsicles and alcohol-soaked fruit kebabs.

Packages start from RM3,500 for 100 drinks.

Online drinks delivery service Boozeat does more than just sell you booze; their beer party packages, for instance, also come with two servers and a barman – don’t expect him to make cocktails; he’s there to pull the beers for you and to make sure every precious drop of beer doesn’t go to waste by being spilt. Other party packages include barbecue meat platters (from RM180) and a live oyster bar service (RM1,190) – this package includes 120 six-inch live oysters shipped from the US, six bottles of wine and a personal butler to shuck the oysters.

When you want to host a party, you’d want to host a party with style. And what better way to do it than to hire your own bartender, especially one who knows how to work the crowd and entertain with flair bartending. Bar Pro Bartending Services provide just that – an experienced bartender along with a portable bar and bar equipment. All you have to do is provide the alcohol and draw up a menu. As the bartenders are certified professionals, you can probably count on some entertainment with their bottle flipping and mixing techniques. If you want all that flair but without the alcohol, Bar Pro also provide bartenders for non-alcoholic parties.

Private Chef Services

Pop Up Dining KL

Started in 2015 by KDU culinary graduates Miki Maria Lie, Amanda Huang and Daniel Yap, Pop Up Dining KL has expanded from its occasional pop-up dinners to include private chef services for anyone looking to organise a fine-dining dinner party at home (or anywhere that has a dining space and basic kitchen). As shown by their pop-up events in the past, the trio is game for trying out different cuisines and styles – whether it be Italian, French, Malaysian, vegetarian or dessert-only degustations, as long as you have the budget, they’re up to the challenge. Their private dinners are available from RM150-250++ per person for a minimum of 15 people, and you can expect a five-course tasting menu (although they’ve done a ten-course tasting menu) comprising three items at the start, a first course, main course, desserts and sweet bites, with dining ware provided for up to 20 people.

A RM300 per person budget, for example, will get you a five-course dinner that includes grilled Mersing lobster; ceviche of cured scallops, mussels and ikura; pistachio-crusted lamb rack; beef Wellington and roasted bone marrow; and home-made tiramisu ice cream.

Luk-Luk

Roast Lamb Malaysia

Sure, barbecues and buffets are great when it comes to parties, but when you’re looking for something a bit more local, it doesn’t get any better than the crowd-favourite luk-luk truck. Roast Lamb Malaysia – despite its name and specialty of roast lamb – offers a simple and fuss-free luk-luk experience with a modest selection of items. You get both spicy and clear soup to go with the standard options of meat and vegetables. Although the offering is non-halal, you can request for a pork-free spread too. And if you’re looking for more food, why not go for more meat on skewers and hire Roast Lamb Malaysia’s fine satay catering service as well? Do keep in mind that one-week prior booking is needed.

And they live up to the hype too with not just their quality options, but with their variety – think bacon and enoki wraps, jellyfish, meatballs and more. Plus, there are also deep-frying stations for something a little different. Spicy and clear broths are a standard, and you can’t go wrong with their range of sauces. To note: The truck will only provide its services for four hours, so be sure to eat fast.
