Alien: Covenant

Film Horror

Okay, so Ridley Scott’s first ‘Alien’ prequel ‘Prometheus’ wasn’t everything we’d dreamed it would be. But we’re hoping the sequel-to-the-prequel gets things back on track. ‘Fantastic Beasts’ star Katherine Waterston heads up the crew of the Covenant, who discover something slimy and peckish on a mysterious planet. Baywatch

Film Comedy

If the trailer is anything to go by, ‘Baywatch’ the movie will be sticking to the formula of the TV series – teeny red swimsuits, gratuitous slo-mo running, etc. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson takes the Hoff’s role, co-starring with Zac Efron’s abs. May 29

Wonder Woman

Film Action and adventure

She made her comic book debut 75 years ago. Now, finally, Wonder Woman is getting her first ever big screen movie. Israeli actress Gal Gadot stars as the ass-kicking Amazonian princess. Jun 1

Here’s a juicy-looking period drama – an adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s Victorian-era chiller. Sam Claflin stars as the English gentleman who suspects his cousin’s wife (Rachel Weisz) of murder. Is she innocent or guilty? Jun 9

The Mummy

London is under threat from an ancient evil in yet another remake of the classic monster movie. Sofia Boutella plays the Egyptian mummy back from the dead and wreaking havoc. Tom Cruise is the plucky hero on a mission to save the world (isn’t he always?). Jun 9

The Beguiled

Film Drama

Sofia Coppola is remaking a Clint Eastwood war movie. No, really. The film in question is 1971 Civil War drama ‘The Beguiled’, about a wounded Union soldier nursed back to health by the teachers and pupils of a girls’ boarding school. Coppola’s all-star cast includes Elle Fanning, Kirsten Dunst, Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell as the soldier. Jun 23

Baby Driver

Film Action and adventure

‘Shaun of the Dead’ genius Edgar Wright hasn’t directed a film since 2013’s ‘The World’s End’. So we’re more than ready for ‘Baby Driver’, his new crime comedy about a teenage getaway driver, Baby (Ansel Elgort), who finds himself up to his eyeballs in trouble after a botched bank job. This looks like a hot blast of Quentin Tarantino-style fun, with Kevin Spacey, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx popping up as assorted cops and/or crimelords. Jun 28
