Just shy of ten London pubs have received nomination nods in the upcoming Great British Pub Awards 2023. Well done, London pubs!

Four of London’s nominated pubs in the annual, nationwide awards are in the Best City/Urban Pub category (naturally) with The Kings Arms in Bexleyheath, The Audley Public House in Mayfair (pictured above), The George IV in Chiswick and The Turk’s Head in Twickenham (are we still allowed to call pubs that?) all up for the title.

The Kings Arms is also up for Best Pub for Entertainment, alongside The Phoenix Arts Club in Soho. Only one London location has been nominated in the Best Pub To Watch Sport category, and that’s the appropriately-named Sports Bar & Grill in Canary Wharf. The Alexandra in Wimbledon is up for the Community Hero award, no doubt partly due to its yearly tradition of dishing up free Christmas dinners

When it comes to specific breweries, Guy Earl of Warwick in Welling is nominated for Greene King Pub of the Year, while The Woodman in Pinner is in contention for Stonegate Group Pub Partners Pub of the Year.

Last year’s awards had two London winners. Best Pub to Watch Sport was dished out to the Famous Three Kings in Fulham (which won the same prize in 2021), while Natalie Coleman at The Oyster Shed in the City of London was named Best Pub Chef.

The ceremony will take place on September 19 at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester. We raise a pint of ale to all those nominated.
